Hi everyone,
Cameron & Brodie Cook (Father & Son) Team “Cookie Monster”.
In April 2027 we’re taking on Shitbox Rally - Autumn from Port Augusta through to Townsville with plenty of mini adventures (and hopefully minimal breakdowns) in between.
We’ve bought ourselves a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer CE GLI 1.8, for the whopping price of $200 and over the next few months we’ll be turning it into a driving Cookie Monster. It’ll be spray painted blue, furry, have giant eyes on the roof, and probably look completely ridiculous, but that’s exactly the point! We want to have some fun, make people smile and laugh, but most importantly, raise as much money as we can for cancer research.
The reason we’re doing this is very personal.
Earlier this year, Brodie’s wife Minna was diagnosed with aggressive HER2-positive breast cancer. We have six amazing kids, and like every family who hears the word “cancer”, our world was turned upside down, we’ve managed to keep our lives as normal as possible while Minna does treatment twice a week on to of every other appointment you are required to attend while having cancer treatment. Our children have remained super positive for their mum and we really appreciate all the support for our not so little family by our family and friends over this period.
The reality is that because of cancer research, Minna has access to treatments today that weren’t available years ago. Those treatments have given us hope and given our family the chance to look forward instead of preparing for the worst. That’s why cancer research matters. It isn’t just science, it helps to give families a chance, more time together, spend special moments, birthdays, Christmases, Easter, milestones, and most importantly for Minna, it gives her the opportunity to support and watch our kids continue to grow into beautiful, strong human beings.
Cancer has also affected our extended family, with Cameron’s brother, Greg (Brodie’s uncle) also currently going through his own fight with cancer, having been battling it for 2 years now.
Like so many families, we’ve seen just how common and heartbreaking this disease is.
So while you’ll see us driving around in a silly blue Cookie Monster car, please know there’s a serious reason behind it.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council to fund cancer research. Research is changing lives every single day, and we know firsthand how important that is. We want to do our bit to help make sure more families get the same hope we’ve been lucky enough to have.
If you can spare a few dollars, we’d be incredibly grateful. If you can’t, sharing this with your family, friends and extended networks is just as appreciated.
Thanks for getting behind us, cheering us on, and supporting such an important cause.
If you would like to discuss sponsorship packages, please get in touch.

Cookie Monsters are driving a $1,500 car from Port Augusta to Townsville to raise money for Cancer Council
They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.
Directly to Cancer Council.
Box Rallies is the largest funder of cancer research in Australia — outside of the government. Every dollar supports Cancer Council.
