A husband and wife team from Central Queensland who have been together for 15 years. Courtney is a high school teacher, Michael works in disability support, and apparently after 15 years together we decided we needed to test the marriage properly. 😂
So naturally, we signed up to drive a shitbox from Port Augusta to Townsville.
We’re taking part in the Shitbox Rally to have one hell of an adventure together, rally our community behind us and, most importantly, raise money for cancer research.
Are we mechanically qualified for this adventure? Absolutely not.
Courtney once mowed the water meter on our front lawn.
Michael once poured three litres of orange juice into a radiator on the side of a Brisbane highway.
So yeah… what could possibly go wrong? 😂
Like so many Australians, we’ve seen the impact cancer can have on families, friends and communities. Being able to raise money for cancer research while doing something completely ridiculous, challenging and unforgettable together sounded like something we couldn’t pass up.
We want to bring our Central Queensland community along for the whole journey. Helping us find our shitbox, getting it rally-ready, then eventually pointing it north from Port Augusta in South Australia and hoping like hell it makes it to Townsville 😂
All while raising essential funds for Cancer Council!
We’re Team Hawk This Way 🦅
Two Hawks. One shitbox. 15 years together.
What could go wrong? 😂
Hawk This Way are driving a $1,500 car from Port Augusta to Townsville to raise money for Cancer Council
They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.
Directly to Cancer Council.
Box Rallies is the largest funder of cancer research in Australia — outside of the government. Every dollar supports Cancer Council.
