Damon and Scott are thrilled to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2027 - Autumn!
This incredible event will see us drive a car worth $1,500 or less – affectionately known as a "Shitbox" – from Port Augusta to Townsville between April 23rd to May 1st, alongside 500 other adventurous participants.
Shitbox Rally is not a race, but a challenge to accomplish the unthinkable: tackling thousands of kilometres through remote outback roads and rugged Australian terrain, all in the name of a very important cause. The car we've chosen to drive is a 2001 Ford Laser. The old girl has racked up over 300,000 kms on the clock, and has not a single straight panel, which is why we've chosen the team name "Laser Focused on Finishing".
This rally aims to raise $2.5 million for Cancer Council to support groundbreaking cancer research across the country. Since its inception in 2009, Shitbox Rally has raised over $67 million, making it the largest community-based fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia.
Every participating team is required to raise a minimum of $5,000. Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council and helps fund vital cancer research, which is why we're doing everything we can to hit our goal. Your support, whether big or small, will have a real impact.
For us, this is about more than just the adventure. Cancer has touched both of our families deeply. Our wives lost their mum and their uncle to cancer, Damon has also lost an uncle to the disease. Scott's mum is a cancer survivor. So when we say this cause is close to our hearts, we really mean it. Every dollar raised feels personal to us, and we hope it does to you too.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal and makes a real difference in the fight against cancer.
All donations are tax-deductible, and 100% of every dollar goes directly to Cancer Council.
We are genuinely excited (and more than a little nervous!) about what lies ahead – breakdowns, dust, dirt roads, and all. But knowing that every kilometre we drive is helping fund life-saving cancer research makes it all worthwhile. Thank you so much for your generosity and support. We'll be sure to keep you updated as the adventure unfolds!

They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
