We’re thrilled to announce that we’re taking part in Shitbox Rally Autumn! We’ll be hitting the road in a $1,500 SHITBOX, navigating a rugged and unforgettable 7-day adventure across the heart of Australia. But for us, this isn't just another road trip. This journey is something much more personal.
In 2004, the most beautiful, thoughtful, and loving human, my (Lil’s) mum, Helen, passed away after a two-year fight with breast cancer. Ever since we hit the road, we have been looking for the right way to truly give back. As full-time travellers, we couldn’t think of a more perfectly aligned journey than pushing a beautiful, barely running disaster of a car across the outback to raise money for much-needed cancer research. We are fully prepared to put Jakes mechanical skills to the absolute test to get this thing across the finish line and help our fellow teams do the same.
Every participating team is required to raise a minimum of $5,000. 100% of every single dollar raised goes directly to the Cancer Council to fund vital, life-saving research. In the 22 years since we lost mum, cancer research and treatment have come an incredibly long way, significantly improving survival rates and giving families more precious time together. By supporting this rally, you're directly backing the next breakthrough.
We know firsthand the pain of watching someone you love fight this disease, and we know how many of you have your own stories of loss and survival. This rally is our way of channeling our love for adventure, and our hope for a cancer-free future into something that can genuinely save lives.
We want to honour my mum with every single kilometre, but we can't do it alone. Your support, whether big or small, means the absolute world to us. You aren't just helping us reach a fundraising goal, you are standing with us in the fight to make sure fewer families have to say goodbye too soon.
Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts.
Lil & Jake xx

They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.
Directly to Cancer Council.
Box Rallies is the largest funder of cancer research in Australia — outside of the government. Every dollar supports Cancer Council.
