Seb and Mehul are officially taking on Shitbox Rally 2027 – Autumn!
To give a little background... One of us has crashed motorbikes and the other has sunk yachts, so in the grand scheme of things, this seems a little less risky. Our friendship has grown across decades and continents roughly at the same rate our sensibility has declined. Hence why we're excited to throw all caution to the wind and do something incredible for a great cause. We can't sink it or fall off it, so fingers crossed we make it to the finish.
Against all common sense (and probably the advice of every mechanic we've spoken to), we're attempting to fix up a "Poorsche" for less than $1,500. Yes... a Porsche 924. Yes... fifteen hundred bucks. No... we don't know if it's possible either.
In fact, there's a very real chance this whole thing ends with us sitting on the side of the road wondering where it all went wrong.
...But we're going to spend the year doing it anyway!
If we can somehow coax this bargain-bin German engineering from Port Augusta to Townsville over 7 days, it'll be nothing short of a mechanical miracle. Expect questionable engineering, questionable decisions, plenty of laughs, and hopefully not too much walking.
Of course, the rally isn't really about the car—it's about raising money to help beat cancer.
Every team must raise at least $5,000, and 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to Cancer Council to fund life-saving cancer research and support services.
So if you'd like to help turn this ridiculous idea into something genuinely meaningful, we'd love your support. Whether it's $5 or $500, every donation helps make a real difference.
Thanks for coming along for what promises to be an epic adventure... or a spectacular automotive disaster. Either way, it's going to be entertaining!
Team Poorsche are driving a $1,500 car from Port Augusta to Townsville to raise money for Cancer Council
They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.
Directly to Cancer Council.
Box Rallies is the largest funder of cancer research in Australia — outside of the government. Every dollar supports Cancer Council.
